A Rather Embarrassing Night for Psychic Sally in Middlesbrough

I recently went to to see the 'psychic to the stars' Sally Morgan at Middlesbrough town hall, and if there was one word I could use to describe my night it would be 'boring'. First off I feel I have to say that I personally don't believe that psychics exist so, as you can imagine, I find people like Sally distasteful. This, however, was not the reason why I found the night boring as I do love this kind of thing and was genuinely excited to not only see her, but to gauge the audiences reaction to her show. The reason that it was boring was because the audience did not respond well to her after relatively early on in her performance, she showed the level of her psychic abilities.

Psychic Sally Middlesbrough

For those who don't know, psychic Sally Morgan is a British television and stage artist who claims to have (you guessed it...) psychic abilities. She believes that she inherited her abilities from her Grandmother who was affectionately known locally as the witch of Fulham. She has been the star of her own show and has an extensive list of clients including celebrities and royalty, and is currently on the road showing off her psychic abilities.

Sally came to Middlesbrough on Friday night and her show started off very well. Even though she was getting the vast majority of what she was saying wrong the audience did not seem to mind and seemed to be having a good time. The point at which the audience became disillusioned with the performance was quite specific. One aspect of the show is that audience members can submit photographs of dead loved ones, in the hope that Sally will select theirs, and give a psychic reading from it. Sally pulled out of a box on stage one of these pictures. She held the picture up to the camera and it was projected on the large screen behind her. The picture was of a middle-aged woman and by the clothes she was wearing and the quality of the image, I guessed it was taken some time in the 1990s. Sally immediately began to get communications from beyond the grave from a man holding a baby named Annabel……or was it Becky. Noticing that no one in the audience was responding, Sally asked the person who submitted the photo to stand up. A rather small chunky woman at the centre of the hall stood up and Sally once again began to get messages from the afterlife. She was informed that this man and baby were somehow linked to the lady in the picture. However the woman in the audience (who was now also projected behind Sally) disagreed and started to look increasingly confused as, presumably, nothing Sally was saying made any sense to her. Sally then decided to flat out ask her if the woman in the picture had any children who passed and, when informed that that she hadn’t, responded by saying “I will leave that then”.

Sally then became in direct contact with the woman in the photo who began to tell her that there was a lot of confusion around her death and that she felt it was very very quick. She later went on to say that the day Wednesday has a specific link to her death and that she either died on a Wednesday or was taken ill that day. As the woman in the audience was not responding to any thing Sally was saying, she decided to ask how the woman in the photo was related to her. It turns out the woman in the audience got the whole concept of submitting a picture of someone you wanted to talk to from the afterlife completely wrong – and for some unknown reason submitted a younger picture of herself.

The hall erupted in laughter, which quickly changed into disapproving mumbles that lasted the rest of the night. No matter how hard Sally tried, she was unable to get the audience back, who were becoming increasingly disgruntled with the number of ‘misses’ she was getting. Not only that, but the audience seemed to become more restrained when Sally was asking them questions. I also don’t think that they reacted well to some of the particularly offensive scenarios Sally was recreating. One involved her re-enacting a dead man flushing narcotics down a toilet to his immediate family, whilst repeatedly saying “flush it down”. Another was when she was talking to a teenage girl whose boyfriend had recently committed suicide by hanging himself. Sally told the girl that she can feel him hitting her leg and that he was, infact, re-enacting  swinging against a door as he was committing suicide.

I now think that the vast majority of people who walked out of Middlesbrough town hall that night feel as i do – that someone who is psychic should know if the person they are talking to is dead or not and that it’s quite a messed up thing for a person to pretend that they are in contact with a dead family member.

  1. What a stroke of luck to have witnessed people’s skepticism suddenly grow mid-show. Psychics are deplorable, and I would’ve called you a fool for paying this woman to see her show, if it wasn’t for the chunky audience members misunderstanding. Made for a nice article too

I know many genuine psychics who are sincere and good people, there are bad plumbers, carpenters etc just as there are good.I was talking to a person who makes a living by speaking to the dead every week, he was a VICAR’ if you don’t believe fine but do not decry those who do as you will find out the truth one day as we all do. The Sally Morgans and tub-thumping stage acts do no service to the genuine ones who just help without rooking people, she was so bad one night according to a TV comedian that they were booing her the following night when he was on.

No. No you don’t. There is NO SUCH THING as a genuine psychic. Some might be “good people” or honestly believe they are helping others, but it doesn’t change the fact that they have absolutely zero special powers. Your vicar mate certainly never spoke to the dead on a weekly basis. Anyone who seriously claims they can are one of two things, a con artist or insane. Those that sincerely believe they hear voices of the dead need psychiatric help. Grow up

      • The only difference between this show and any other psychic reading is that this woman got caught red handed. When you put absolutely any psychic to the test (that is check their accuracy) they always fail. They never pass. Not a single psychic has ever ever ever come even close to being accurate over time. Only lawyers, politicians, swindlers, first born sons, charming playboys and stock brokers can be consistantly wrong but still keep their reputation and make money.

If I was a genuine psychic I wouldn’t make a living out of peoples emotions and feelings and hurt, I would help people in my own time for free with their grieving process, I wouldn’t advertise I would bring it up as and when,it’s a job, a con and they are taking advantage of people’s vulnerability, once your dead your dead your body goes to the earth and all that lives on are memories

I get really pee’d off when all people want to do is bad mouth sally make her look like she is some sort of fraudulant psychic. Why do people only ever mention that she get names wrong n so on.Sally has been doing this since she was 5yrs old, and she has done show after show how bout talking about all the messages she has got spot on?because they would out rule all the messages she may/or may not have got right.I think personally people forget that because she mentions a name to someoone & they dont know who she is talking about that name could relate to a friend who is sitting at home & where they dont know there friends extended family it could have been for them,so it’s not that sally gets it wrong its simply because the person who the message is for is not simply sat in the audience. Also this is not something sally can take a wild guess at,she is being given information from the other side & some people find that hard to except.Sally time & time again gives actual names of the person she has in spirit & gives names of that persons family you tell me how sally could have known this or is making it up?I’d also like to comment on anyone who says that psychics IE sally Morgan are playing on people’s emotions & life’s & making money out of it.If a psychic like sally doe’s a tour & people want to buy tickets & go and see her you tell me how she is playing on their emotions etc??Sally doe’s not force any1 to go and see her it’s a matter of choice.I was at bromley churchill theatre last night & there was a sceptic in the audience sally gave him a spot on reading mentioning names etc that he knew that guy went away a believer, there is nothing sally is doing wrong she is clearly a spot on psychic.Sally is by no means a fraudulant psychic people love going to see her ,she doe’s NOT play with peoples emotions or lifes etc infact what sally doe’s do is bring great comfort & peace of mind to those who get readings off her.People are also judging her on what the papers have writen about her when an allegations was made about the irish woman, well for those of you who dont know Sally won that case against the paper,it didnt even reach the court & why??because they had no evidence of the allegation they printed in the paper about her & no sign of the woman who the papers say gave gave them that information. All I can say is well done sally your amazing & ive seen you twice at bromley churchill theatre & for a s long as your doing your shows there I will be back to see you time & time again.

        There’s NO such thing.
Now if you believe in thede con artists you seriously need help. Infact people who go to them need help in some sort of way… losing a loved one ect..
It’s a total disgrace that UK allow these con artists on TV and to work in this industry.
Now if you where conned a other way they would go to jail.
        they ARE no different.
I did it also to a well known on. Lost 2 children tragically 10 years apart and all she was going on about was some dead dog? clearly a con..
didn’t even pick my kids up and I KNOW for a fact of was real they would come thro.
exuses these people make when confronted and the aggression they display also is well frankly they know tbey have been caught out!!

        Please be very careful…
go to councilling for help not these con artists
it’ll change you view of them i promise.

  3. What a coincidence, whilst catching up with podcasts i just heard ‘Skeptics with a K’ from 08/05/14 (around the 36 min mark) one of the hosts mentions some of his experiences at a Psychic Sally show. Due to the rather litigious nature of some ‘psychics’ he has to do a careful dance not to make any actionable comments about what he saw on stage. If you only listen to a few mins of this consistently good podcast you’ll hear (If, of course, psychics aren’t real and Sally is only an entertainer hot reading from information handed into her staff and playacting as dead children to bereaved parents to add some tear jerking to her performance) some truly sickening examples of ‘contacts’ with and ‘possessions’ by the dead.
I shan’t deny i reposted your story with a smile, it lightened some of the disgust i felt after hearing that bit of the podcast. Here’s hoping that her poor showing will be passed on to others and some will always have that fail as an anecdote against Sally’s billboard reputation

  4. Psychics prey on people’s vulnerabilities, it’s horrid and they should be ashamed. I’m glad the audience disapproved – and even laughed at Sally’s error. There might be “psychics” who genuinely believe they’re talking with the dead – whether they’re mentally ill or just easily fooled by their own imaginations, who knows – but I imagine they are few and far between, with the vast majority likely being aware they’re conning relatives of the deceased.

They should be ashamed. We NEED to laugh at people like Sally. Because she’s, quite frankly, a laughable person.

ONE I feel she has exploited her gift, much like Accorah and it has been taken away, and TWO a good psychic will NEVER….I REPEAT…NEVER speak of means of death or bad news for the living and certainly would not act out death scenarios. The woman is a financial parasite and a disgrace to truly gifted people. Oh and one more thing, if a ‘psychic’ feels the need to ask you questions then you should doubt their ability. They shouldn’t ask questions.

I agree…..I knew Derek many years ago before he became on TV….he said once i like to entertain and thats all he does but its embarressing. No spirit guide like his will allow the medium to be fully over shadowed..his poor peformance of been “taken over my spirits.” Makes me want to throw a brick at the TV….he may of had a clairsentience BUT he went too far and spirit took it from him. Sally…well…. I agree she got caught out…too many times now….she should give up….but while people pay her hundreds for personal readings shell always be here.
