A Review of Liam Scheff’s book Official Stories – HIV – The Scarlet Letter

I don’t think I can put into words how homophobic, sexist, and batshit crazy Liam’s chapter about HIV is. I have therefore decided to let Liams book speak for itself and asked my housemates to read a page. The page I have chosen is one where Liam discusses his theorises on the origin of AIDS.

  1. That… is the most homophobic thing I’ve ever heard.

  2. Disgusting. Please explain to me how a human being could have this perspective? I am dumbfounded, frustrated, and sad.

  3. That is a huge problem with the denialists; their unabashed bigotry. Liam is gay, but that does not mean he cannot be a bigot. I tried to point that out years ago about Dr. Nancy Banks. She wrote a ridiculous book called AIDS Diamonds Opium and Empire (or something like that) and expressed what Liam did and worse. When I re-named her Nancy Bigot-Banks, Elizabeth Ely said Banks could not be a bigot because she is black. Logic is not their strong suit, obviously.
