The food babe has basically made a very comfortable living for herself from searching for a chemical used in food manufacture that also has another use in industry, and telling people to not eat it because……reasons. In this video I talk about her 2013 campaign to stop Subway using a compound known as azodicarbonamide in the production of bread.

    Azodicarbonamide – You conveniently neglect to explain why so many countries have evidently banned it.

    • Terry, that is like people making note that GMOs are banned in [insert number of countries here]. This is a half truth and a whole lie. If you don’t read what is banned and how it is banned then you don’t know what you are talking about. GMOs are not actually banned anywhere other than Kenya. The ban, for GMOs, is actually over ecological concerns and all they really ban is the cultivation of GMOs. Those countries still import GMOs heavily.

      As for azodicarbonamide, they banned it as a blowing agent because of the dangers in high concentrations. It is the same reason why a lot of other industry chemicals were banned in those industries. The dose makes the poison, and when you use something as heavily as chemicals in industry, it is usually well above the point of making that chemical a poison.

  3. As far as I can tell, it is banned in some places in the EU & Australia as a blowing agent, but not as a food additive.

  6. And she is not the only one using that kind of scare tactics. The makers of one brand of yoghurt have been told off for claiming that their rivals use (potassium sorbate) ‘insecticide’ and (sucralose) ‘chlorine’.

    At least in this case the courts have told them to cease and decist, but I am sure plenty of so-called ‘food activists’ will be happy to spread the lies.
