#117 – Don’t Cry Wolfe with Kavin Senapathy

The League of Nerds

The Nerds are joined this week by the wonderful Kavin Senapathy, Forbes contributor, Author of Fearbade, Grounded parents, March against myths and finally Shill for tinyARgo. What are we talking about? Well the quite frankly bizarre beliefs of David Avocado Wolfe.

  2. Hi folks, just a minor observation, Wolfe is indeed an idiot and mangled the whole story, but I believe the figure being described around the 3’50” mark relates to Ignaz Semmelweiss, who indeed stated that simple hygiene measures could bring down the number of cases (and deaths) from “post partum fever”, was shunned by his colleagues and did end his days in a mental institution. But the latter had nothing to do with the former, and he didn’t help much his own cause, being very contentious. See http://qualitysafety.bmj.com/content/13/3/233.full

  3. I should have listened to the whole thing before commenting. :) Semmelweiss was Hungarian, by the way. At the time, part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
