MMS Uganda Update

Last week I wrote a blogpost documenting my interaction with a man trying to circumvent eBay rules by contacting me directly in order to sell me Miracle Mineral Solution (MMS), an industrial bleach that is currently being marketed online as a panacea. What made this interaction more disturbing was that, when I asked for evidence of MMS’ miraculous properties, I was given a link to a video of an alleged clinical trial in Uganda investigating MMS’ ability to cure malaria.

The video stars Klaas Proesmans, the CEO of the Water Reference Centre, and Leo Koehof, a man who has translated several books by the guy who coined the term ‘MMS’, Jim Humble. Together, they tell a story of how they cured 163 people of malaria within 48 hours using MMS and also claim that these “clinical trials” were organised in cooperation with the Ugandan Red Cross and Klaas’ Water Reference Centre, both of which have released statements saying that they played no part in these “trials” and that they in no way endorse the use of MMS in the fight against malaria.

“The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) dissociates itself in the strongest terms from the content of the recent Master Mineral Solution newsletter (May 2013) entitled “Malaria finally defeated” and supporting YouTube video. IFRC does not support or endorse in any manner the claims made in relation to this project, and has at no time been involved in ‘clinical trials’ related to malaria treatment.”

Although I would bet my life savings on how they were able to show 153 testing positive for malaria one day and negative the next, I know I need some hard evidence. To try and get it, I started to contact the people who were involved including the Ugandan Red Cross and The Water Reference Centre who never responded to my questions. The only person who did get back to me was the editor of the video who was happy to answer my questions as best he could.

One of the first things he confirmed was that the Red Cross was not officially part of the trial and informed me that the only reason they were there was because those performing the experiment had contacted them. According to an article based on an interview with Leo in the Dutch alternative magazine Frontier, it was Klaas who used his connections as CEO of the Water Reference Centre to contact the Red Cross. He later goes on to say that he got clearance from a Dr. Bulanda to perform the test in Luuka which is what we see in the video.

In all honestly I am not sure what the Red Crosses involvement was in this whole debacle. Yes, they have publicly stated that they dissociate themselves in the “strongest terms” from the trial and insist that they had no involvement but they have yet to explain why people wearing their t-shirts were at the trial. This is the main reason why I thought I would push my luck with the editor of the video and ask if he still had the raw footage and if he would be willing to send it to me. To my surprise he did, and it was under the condition that I contacted the owner and asked for permission. He gave me the email address of Klaas who I immediately emailed.

A few hours later I received the following email

Dear Mr Power

Thank you for your message.
Unfortunately I cannot give my permission for that. It is 5 year old outdated footage which is privately funded by myself and for internal reasons. Too many people abuse my private research and I have no clue who you are, who pays you and what you really want to accomplish. My footage has been stolen by a conman, edited incorrectly and posted on the internet, and abused for his little 2 minutes of glory. Fine for him.

For sure, as a researcher you will have seen that NaClO2 is used in countless applications for governmental treating water, in hospitals to desinfect ER’s, in warzones to stop bleeding shotwounds, in dozens of legally approved drugs, and so on and so on. So what is so miraculous,…it is common stuff…
If you are after a cure for malaria, which is not exclusively a tropical disease, malaria was common even in Western Europe until short after WWII, and always treated with succes: There are at least 5 natural ways to my knowledge to cure malaria fast and efficient without ever have to reach for pharmaceutical drugs, just go to any sjaman or herbal healer both in the bush (for as long as they are still there) or in your neighbourhood and ask them. I give you a hint: try Artemisia tea, just for one… As for NaClO2 and malaria I dont know the answer. It is ongoing insight with everyday new findings….

It is not my goal to prove anything to anybody. Everyone is entitled and has the obligation to search for himself for the truth. So why would you not go out there for yourself , test it yourself, not complicated, and find out what this gas can do…? I can assist you if you fund it.
You can buy the ingredients legally in any drugstore and you can produce it yourself.

But dont expect me, just a truth seaker, to let you drink from my humble cup of  questions and doubts, while you have the well at your disposal. Dont believe what ‘they’ tell you, dont believe what I tell you, dont believe what God, Allah, Buddha and their friends tell you, go out there and find out for yourself.
It is great out there, I can assure you…

Best wishes
With all due respect
K Proesmans

I have to admit that at first I was a little taken back by Klaas’ rambling email as it doesn’t seem to come from the calm and collective person who starred in the video. But after thinking about it, I realised that this is exactly what the video was aiming for. It was trying to hide the fact that the two men performing the “clinical trial”, Klaas and Leo, were not men of science, but peddlers of bullshit using a third world country and its vulnerable people as guinea pigs to promote their dangerous woo. I think his email also shows the calibre of men running the show which was also backed up by the editor who referred to Leo as a “complete fruitcake” because he believes in some “kind of sect from Mars”.

Although I wanted nothing more than to call Klaas a coward for allowing Leo to perpetuate his bullshit online by not being more vocal in his opposition and not allowing me to have a copy of the footage, I knew I had to get this guy on my side. I wrote another quick email with links to my YouTube channel and website along with my stance on using MMS for malaria to attempt to persuade him to be more forthcoming.

“I am sorry I probably should have told you a little more about myself before asking for the footage. As I said I run a sceptical website (mylespower.co.uk) and YouTube channel (youtube.com/powerm1985). I don’t get paid by anyone to produce content online and the only thing I want to accomplish is to try help people. I am a chemist and know that NaClO2 can and is used to purify water but I don’t believe it can cure malaria. That is why I was shocked when I was sent a link to the video of the trial.

When you say “conman” I take it you are referring to Leo Koehof. If he stole your footage to get his 2 minute of glory then why not give me it to prove him wrong! Let me show my 47k subscribers how he edited the footage incorrectly.

You are not obligated to do anything but everyday that video is up without rebuttal more and more people will believe it. “

I wanted for a response that did not come and slowly accepted that I would never get my hands on the footage. I decided to contact Klaas one more time only this time I send him some very basic question

I am sorry to bother you again but I was hopping that if you were unable to give me the footage, you might still be able to answer some questions for me?

▪ Can you let me know what blood tests were performed, how many were performed, and the time scale of these tests?
▪ Why were the Red Cross there? At the end of the video, Leo tell us that you said they just happened to be there.
▪ One of the videos said that 11 people tested positive after receiving the MMS but were cured on the third day. Is this true?

Thank you for your time and I look forward to your response.

Once again, I waited for a response that would never come and I slowly came to the conclusion that Klaas would not help me. In doing so, he is allowing Leo et al to continue their fraud and convince sick people here in the west to drink bleach by quoting this unethical trail that bypasses research standards.

There are still so many unanswered question about this “trial” that the footage would have cleared up, including what part the Red Cross and Water Reference Centre played in this pantomime. However, one thing is for certain – like the seralinie paper, this experiment (if you can call it that…) was designed to get the results it did, but more on that later.

  2. Good luck in your quest to get to the bottom of this. I am going to state that I am disappointed that the Ugandan Red Cross has chosen not to respond to you in this. You may wish to raise this issue at the International level. I also hope that Mark Chrislip’s podcasts prove helpful as this is a problem that needs to be tackled.
